“A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2013.”

Coco: This is what happens when you turn your back on him for ten seconds.
Mowgli: Another happy little Vegemite.
Juju: Still wearing “that” tutu and she has now added a tiara to her get-up.

I’m about 3 weeks behind in my posts for the 52 project.

Life at the moment is chaotic, its exhausting, its relentless. But there are always magical moments, even on the very worst days.

“A portrait of our children, once a week, every week, in 2013.”

Juju: Proud of her “pink” crown.
Mowgli: More interested in eating off the stickers.
Coco: Wasn’t quite sure what to do with his. He attempted to flush it down the toilet but was put on the right track by his big sister.

One of the rare days when I managed to do craft with the kids and it didn’t end in disaster.

J 13-52 (Medium)“A portrait of our children, once a week, every week, in 2013.”

Coco: Loves nothing better than playing with his sister’s tea set.
Juju: Still obsessed with her “rose” tutu. If she could sleep in it she would.
Mowgli & Coco: Curious little troublemakers.

I’m really behind posting our weekly photos for the 52 Project. Or posting any of the blog pieces I have floating round in my head.

As I explained to a friend in an email this morning, the twins wake up at 5.30 am (4am this morning) full of beans and literally do not stop until they hit the sack at 7pm.

They climb and destroy and climb some more. They think its hilariously funny to climb onto tables and throw things off, and to pull my hair or poke me in the nose with their sharp finger nails (which they will not let me cut).

When they’re not climbing or pulling hair, they’re wrestling each other or fighting over toys or terrorizing their sister who gleefully retaliates by trying to strangle them with ribbons or poke them with her fairy wand.

I’m just exhausted by my kids.

I’m counting down to July when, fingers crossed, we will finally hit the road in our Airstream.

I’m overdue for a new adventure.

Juju:”You can’t catch me.”
Mowgli: Red shoes. He hasn’t stopped playing with the velcro.
Coco and Juju: Wearing in their new shoes.

I’ve been conscious of not buying any new stuff. Our road trip is just a few months away now and we will have just one drawer each for storage.

The kids already have so many clothes and toys and Juju only ever wants to wear the same tattered pink tutu anyway.

But I think decent shoes are really important. And there’s something magical about kids jumping around in brand-spanking new shoes. (Of course Juju’s had to be pink!)

Mowgli: He still  doesn’t eat much but he knows how to use a fork.

Coco: “I’m not sharing my bike for any girl.”

Juju: Proud as punch now she knows how to ride a scooter.

52 Project link love: How incredible is this portrait of father and son?

Mowgli: Our cuddly koala is still teething.
Juju: She gets harassed by her brothers so much these days, nothing seems to phase her. And yes, that’s Morgan pulling her hair, chewing on a tube of Bonjela. That stuff just doesn’t work.
Coco: Thought he was very clever putting these glasses on and off, a remnant from Juliette’s second birthday party.

It has been a stinking hot week here in Melbourne.

So hot I have barely taken any photos. So hot I can’t remember anything we’ve done.

All the kids have been hot and grizzly.

And Mama bear even more so.

I tried hard to visit some of the other 52 projects this week but only managed a dozen. I especially loved Maltida’s way of exploring the rain / these loving sisters / and Milla plum’s obvious love of the snow.

“A portrait of our children, once a week, every week, in 2013.”

Juju: Sugar and spice and everything nice. That’s what little girls are made of.
Mowgli: Frogs and snails and puppy dog’s tails.
Coco: That’s what little boys are made of.

We have such a girly girl. I’m not sure where it comes from.

The twins are still eating everything in their path – except food.

Week 9 of Jodi’s 52 Project.

“A portrait of our children, once a week, every week, in 2013.”

Juju: “Mmmm, I like it. I’m really happy, Mum.”
Mowgli: He has a sweet tooth and inhaled his icecream in no time flat.
Coco: He HAD to climb with his. Up onto the Ikea kids kitchen for a view out of the window.
He was followed quickly by his partner in crime.

Icecreams on a crazily hot day.

We’ve been melting in our uninsulated 1920′s weatherboard home.

It’s currently 35 degrees (95F) at 10pm inside the house! (And about the same inside our Airstream).

It’s our sixth day in a row of plus 30 temperatures and crazy humidity here in Melbourne. Most of Australia has had the hottest summer on record.

It’s too hot to sleep so I’m posting Week 8 of Jodi’s 52 Project a few days early.

Water babyHouseworkTeething“A portrait of our children, once a week, every week, in 2013.”

Juju: At the pool – “Whoops I did a burp Mum. It’s not spicy… Look I’m a mermaid. Look Mum, I’m making footprints out of water.”
Mowgli: Teething pains.
Coco: Vacuum cleaner obsessed.

Did I mention the twins are STILL teething?

It’s been two months of hell. They don’t sleep, they don’t eat and they won’t wean. (Or stop biting). Hence the lack of written blog posts.

Sometimes I fantasise about hitching up our Airstream and skipping town. Just for one night of unbroken sleep…
